"City Lights is a great gift to all of us by a filmmaker at a latter-day peak of his genius" - Jay Antani

"Contains some of Chaplin's great comic sequences." - Roger Ebert

City Lights, when watched today, has the feel of an old, personal story being passed down another generation. The ending is, to say the least, sublime. - Collin Souter

"That final scene. If it doesn't move you, you aren't fit for decent company." - Mark Bourne

My Rating: 9.0/10
City Lights is my first silent film. It is made in 1931 and is my second oldest film i ever watched. The oldest film i ever watched is All Quiet On The Western Front. City Lights is black and white and silent. Teenagers will not like this type of films because they think that the films are boring. I completely disagree. City Lights is still very entertaining after 70 years. It is a timeless classic and is known as Chaplin's best film. Chaplin's acting is legendary. City Lights also contains many funny scenes which will make you laugh continually. The movie is suprisingly touching too. Watch it at least once in your life and you will realise Chaplin is a genius.
